Can I get your opinion for a sec?

Dear Visitor,

I need your opinion!  It will take just a couple minutes, I promise.

Quite often I am asked the question "What kind of music do you play?" and "Who do you sound like?" to which I usually reply "ummmmm...".
I'm hoping you can help me to be a little more forthcoming and confident.  You in?

Also, I'm excited to let you know I'm ready to start giggin' again this year.  I have an upcoming showcase in Vancouver on Friday January 27th at Joe's Apartment.  Details below!

What I'm hoping is if you can write me back and describe my sound in one or two sentences.  If you can't string two sentences together, I would settle for a series of descriptive words that come to mind.

I'm hoping you can also list a bunch of artists and bands that I sound like.  Think of my style, my voice, my songs and my overall sound.  Pretend you're making an iTunes playlist - who would you line me up with?

Here is a list of artists to get you started, please pick a few from the list that you most agree with (and let me know if there's ones you DONT agree with) and then add any new artists you can think of.

Sufjan Stevens, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, Ray LaMontagne, Portishead, Death Cab for Cutie, Sia, Iron & Wine, Sarah McLachlan, Florence + The Machine, Radiohead, Bon Iver, Emiliana Torrini, Lamb, Sinead O'Connor, Sigur Ros, Imogen Heap/Frou Frou, Coldplay, Björk, Laura Marling, Tori Amos, Joni Mitchell, Patrick Watson, Enya, Tracy Chapman, Feist, Evanescence.

Thanks so much for your help, your input will really help me to market my music more effectively and therefore provide further opportunities for me to make and play more music for you! :)

im going viral in germany!

A manager in Germany has recently started helping me out and somehow managed to get me 500 Facebook Likes in 3 days on my new Official German Page!

Quite frankly, German-Me is kicking Canadian-Me's butt!  If you'd like to join in the fun, feel free to Like my Germany Page, but please if you do, LIKE MY CANADIAN PAGE too so Canadian-Me doesn't fall too far behind... no really, she's actually, like, starting to get a complex.

- This link should really say "Make Dana-Marie sad."
- This link is much better, it means you can change which email is subscirbed but still stay on the list :
